Ada County Coroner identifies driver killed in Emmett crash

The Ada County Coroner's Office released a statement identifying the driver as William Gutke, who was pronounced dead after unsuccessful lifesaving measures.

The cause of death is traumatic blunt force injuries, and the manner of death is an accident.

According to a recent news release, Idaho State Police is investigating a single-vehicle crash that occurred at the East 12th Street and South Substation Road intersection in Emmett on Wednesday, April 10, at 9:46 p.m.

The road was closed due to construction on the Substation Road and Highway 16 intersection. A Subaru Legacy, driven by a 41-year-old male from Idaho Falls, bypassed the posted road closure signs.

The driver continued north on Substation Road. The vehicle crashed into a large pile of dirt at the Substation Road and East 12th Streetintersection and stopped on the driver's side. The driver was transported via air ambulance to a nearby hospital and succumbed to his injuries.

The driver was not wearing a seatbelt. This crash is still under investigation by Idaho State Police.
