Cowboys QB Dak Prescott finally breaks silence on ugly se*ual assault allegation levied on him

As it is with most se*ual allegations and assault cases, people tend to stay silent and give away very little. Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott chose to speak minimally about his alleged se*ual assault case filed by Victoria Shores and her attorney.

Prescott, who is in the last year of his Cowboys contract and with no negotiations in sight, attended the Texas Children’s Cancer Fund Gala. After the event, he spoke with the media, and one of the journalists asked him for a statement on the recent court filings about his alleged se*ual assault case.

The 30-year-old claimed that he knew what happened. But he did not reveal any details. Instead, he is confident in himself and the lawyers who are helping him to close the apparent ‘money-grabbing‘ situation.

I know the truth. I’m confident in what we filed. Very confident in what we filed. I know some things have changed in their sense in where they filed, but that doesn’t have any weighing on what we’re doing or how we’re going about our lawsuit.
Dak Prescott said.

He was further asked whether this had affected the stalled contract talks.

[This] has nothing to do with it.
Prescott replied.

What would happen if the Cowboys don’t renew Dak Prescott’s contract?

The 30-year-old confirmed on Friday that he has yet to have any talks about an extension with Jerry Jones. In fact, the Cowboys owner would prefer Prescott to play out his contract.

Jones is in a bind because he can’t either tag the three-time Pro Bowler or have the luxury of trading him. Back in 2019, when they were in a similar situation, the Cowboys used the franchise tag to extend Prescott’s stay with the team. In 2021, he signed a four-year, $160 million deal that runs out at the end of the 2024 season.

Prescott’s 2024 cap hit is $55.445 million. Even if he does enter free agency next year, he will still count $40.46 million against the 2025 cap per Spotrac. This is probably the reason football analysts believe the Cowboys could be a ‘sleeper team’ to draft a new quarterback. Besides Prescott, both back-ups Cooper Rush and Trey Lance are in the final year of their deal.

Moreover, the Cowboys need to pick and choose which player gets the money. Both All-Pro athletes, CeeDee Lamb and Micah Parsons, are out of contract after 2024. Despite the uncertainty in his future, Prescott doesn’t fear it. Instead, he wants to win the Super Bowl.
