In week 18, the Dallas Cowboys, who had already qualified for the playoffs, were competing to keep their slim chance of getting the No.1 seed alive. To their dismay, they were handed a humiliating 6-26 loss by the Washington Commanders. With this, the Philadelphia Eagles secured the No.1 seed for the NFC while the Cowboys go home with a lot to think about ahead of the playoffs.
The Cowboys looked totally clueless against Washington and offensively, didn’t know how to move the ball around. QB Dak Prescott, for starters, didn’t know what was going on the field and didn’t have any communication with the offense. He is always trolled for his inconsistency and that was on display massively against the Commanders.
To put light on his poor run this season, despite missing 5 games, he leads the field with the most interceptions this season. He has thrown 15 interceptions this season and has an interception to his name for 7 consecutive games this season. He even threw a pick-6 against the Commanders which broke all the momentum and gave the opponents a big lead.
This was the Cowboys’ worst loss of the year beating the previous worst 19-3 defeat in Week 1 against the Buccaneers. To make things interesting, they will now face the Buccaneers once again in a blockbuster playoff clash next week. Dak Prescott will be against one of the best QBs of all time, Tom Brady, and knowing his record in big games, things don’t look smooth for the Cowboys. Brady owns a 7-0 record against the Cowboys, including wins the past two seasons with the Bucs.
NFL Twitter slams Dak Prescott for underperforming against the Commanders
Fans on social media were not happy with Prescott’s performance in week 18. Cowboys fans questioned his capability and raised a fair point- if he can’t deliver against the Commanders, how will he perform under pressure against Brady next week? He was called overrated on social media and fans even demanded the Cowboys move past him.
The Cowboys have finished the regular season with a 12-5 record and are seeded 5th in the NFC. They finished second in the NFC East division after the Eagles and will now take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the wildcard round.
